In Onondaga County 95% of adults age 19 to 64 years and 99.8% of individuals age 65 and older have health insurance. In Syracuse, 93.3% of adults age 19 to 64 years have insurance.

The Onondaga County Health Department conducted a Community Health Survey in 2022 asking residents about their experiences when seeking healthcare in the last five years.
The five most common experiences were:
- Long wait times to get appointments
- Difficulty getting to appointments due to office hours
- Wait times in healthcare provider offices, affecting the ability to meet their other obligations
- Feeling like their healthcare provider is not listening
- Feeling like their healthcare provider is not spending enough time with them
